Distance.
2021
It's been almost 20 months since I last saw my parents. Although we're some kind of dysfunctional family, we greately care for each other. I can barely remember how warm their hugs feel. I do remember my mom's soft but long hugs every time we see each other and my dad's firm and formal hugs, like if I was one of his business associates. They feel so distant now thanks to the flight restrictions which is funny since we're only 1063 Km away.
The flight from London to Barcelona takes only an hour and fourty minutes, sometimes that's faster (and cheaper) than the train from Brighton to London, but that's another story. Today, that distance feels astronomical in size, like Major Tom trying to reach ground control. Apart from the hugs, I miss the views when we're flying over the Pyrenees and the landing in Barcelona, every time I'm compelled to make a photograph or two of each.
