Photographing the art of mixology with Black Cow Vodka

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a cocktail competition in Brighton that brought together some of the most talented mixologists in the region. Hosted by Black Cow Vodka, the world’s first pure milk vodka, the event was a showcase of creativity, precision, and passion for the craft of cocktail making.

Innovation and Craftsmanship.

Set at The Mixology Group, Brighton’s own vibrant cocktail school, the competition was a true display of the artistry behind mixology. Each competitor representing a local bar brought their unique take on how to best highlight the smooth, creamy character of Black Cow Vodka.

As a mixology photographer, my focus was on capturing the intensity of the competition; the swift shaking and stirring of the bartenders, the concentration on their faces, and the anticipation of the judges as they sipped and deliberated. Brighton, with its thriving cocktail culture, proved to be the perfect backdrop for an event that blended expertise with entertainment.

The Rise of Craft Cocktails in Sussex and London

Over the years, the cocktail scene in East & West Sussex, and London has evolved into a dynamic, experimental industry. Competitions like this one not only celebrate the talent of bartenders but also push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of drinks.

With drinks brands like Black Cow Vodka leading the way in premium, sustainable spirits, the role of photography in showcasing these experiences has never been more important. My approach to bar and drinks photography goes beyond just documenting an event, it’s celebrating the story of the people, the craft, and the ingredients.

Why Bar Photography Matters?

For bars, restaurants, and drinks brands across Brighton, Sussex, and London, professional cocktail photography is a powerful tool. It not only highlights the artistry of a well-made drink but also helps brands connect with their audience, whether through social media, websites, or promotional campaigns.

Looking back at these images from the Black Cow Vodka Cocktail Competition, I’m reminded of how photography can preserve a moment in time; a testament to the shared love for a perfectly crafted drink.
